We usually have a New Years Eve party here -- a family type event that is usually over way before midnight -- well, it's midnight somewhere!
We have a good time... but I'm looking for some new ideas :)
Past years, we have had snacks (hot & cold)... and fireworks! Lots of visiting and laughing...

Are you asking for food ideas?

I just went to a party where she served a huge crockpot of chili which we poured over pasta. Delicious at this time of year. She had cake and cookies for dessert. It was fun for us and simple for her.

I usually have a bunch of different snacks but for this year's holiday party (on Sat.) I'm going to do Mexican food -- nachos and cheese, chips and guacamole, cheese quesadillas served with pico de gallo. And margaritas! Ole.

Hope this helps. I'm getting hungry... :)

Carolyn usually does a Cajun Christmas Eve thing - I think she makes jambalaya and red beans and rice and gumbo or something like that...

Have you looked at familyfun.com ? They always have good kid-friendly ideas to make parties fun and interesting. :)

Party Punch
Ingredients:
1-1/2 qts ginger ale, chilled
5 cups double-strength tea
2-1/4 cups sugar
2-1/2 cups orange juice
1=1/2 cups unsweetened grapefruit juice
2/3 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup lime juice
Prepare your tea and let chill. When cool, add to it the sugar, orange juice, grapefruit juice, lemon juice and lime juice. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Cover punch and chill in refrigerator. When ready to serve, add the chilled ginger ale. Stir to blend thoroughly.

Candy Bar Croissants
Oh so unbelievably good and tasty...
Easy to make but does require a little time.
This is a good recipe to make with your children's help.
Best served warm, but these can be reheated in 10 second intervals in the microwave.
If re-heated, add a little pat of butter when you serve them..
Heck, what's a few more calories, huh?I make these more often than I care to admit!

Any Kids Theme Party would work for New years then just add the banging pots and pans at midnight or fireworks etc...
