I have a special needs daughter, Kate, who will be 4 in May. She was Diagnosed in November with Motor Planning Problems and Tactile issues. If there is more we will find out when the paperwork gets here, hopefully this week.

What her diagnosis means is - she has trouble with a series of tasks. She has to break down each step before she can do it. Tactile problems are that she doesn't like the way things feel either to her skin or in her mouth so she's really picky about food and has been since birth. She's had all of this since birth.

Her future - because she is so young, we hope that the local school district will accept her for therapy. The Occupational Therapist (OT) who evaluated her through our insurance recommended Occupational therapy. Because of her oral issues we don't know yet if she will need speech therapy or anything else.

We "should" be receiving her paperwork on the original evaluation this week. She has an appt with the school district to be assessed on January 26th. Hopefully they will agree she needs help and can devise a plan for her.

I have a few special needs myself. I have scoliosis that has really done a number on the muscles and tendons in my back and it has caused pain since I was about 14. That's 22 years of it. Yuck! I am going to a physical therapist though and doing exercises and that helps a lot! I recently had a cyst removed as well from my foot and am recovering from that.

Otherwise we just have normal stuff like allergies here.

 Hope all goes well with the school, and that they can help your daughter :)

Hope the physical therapist can help you with your scoliosis too!

The PT told me what it is that is causing my back pain. Scoliosis isn't curable. What neither of us understand is why after so many years, no doctor listened to me when I complained of pain. They just told me to live with it. Take pain meds. Now with therapy it does go away. I haven't been able to do my exercises though because of my foot and the ortho shoe lifts the opposite leg than the one that needs it so it throws me off. Lol.
