While we were out for our walk last night he got attacked by a big dog -- bit him on the rear end. When we took him to the vet this morining and he shaved Spot to have a better look, it's much worse than we thought. The one puncture is about 1 1/2 inches in, and there are more teeth marks than we could see.
My sister & I had Spot out for his evening walk / run. Down the road came 2 ladies with one little dog Spot's size and one big dog. Spot went over and he & the little dog looked like they were going to run and play, so I let him go. Then the big dog attacked him and he went running for home (The dog bit him as he was running away). The lady's were hollering at the dog and I was yelling for Spot (he was a ways away from me at this point). By the time I got across the road and to where Spot was -- then looked to see if the ladies & their dogs were still around, they were gone.
Ticks me off -- they didn't stay around long enough to see if Spot was even ok. I guess because he ran off they thought he was?
I called the vet later last night and he had us check a couple of things over with Spot (checked his gums for colour -- I guess if they go white that indicates internal bleeding -- that was ok -- and asked a bit about what we could see). He said he was sure Spot would be ok for the night and to bring him in in the morning.
So they kept him at the vets -- he'll have his surgery this afternoon and stay overnight.
My poor little puppy! He is in pain, scared, and now likely feels like we abandonded him!! We left his blanket ans stuffy there with him
I'm just so upset and sick over this. Please keep little Spottie in your thoughts.
