What was the most important thing you considered when choosing a donor?

Hi Annie,
I recently chose a donor and my main reason for choosing him is because he's an open identity donor (once the child turns 18). I already have quite a bit of information on him now. I believe if you use DI the child should be told and given as much info as possible, I know if it were me that's what I would want. Also, when I read his profile and saw his pictures something just clicked so hopefully I'll be able to have a baby. My first IUI is the end of next week.

The first time I tried to find a donor with my older son's blond hair and green eyes, figuring that then the baby would end up with my coloring (brown hair and eyes) or something similar to Noah. Imagine my shock when Ethan was born with red hair and bright blue eyes! Ethan has a lot of health problems so when I chose a donor the second time around I didn't pay nearly as much attention to the physical aspects of the donor and looked heavily at medical history and blood type (Ethan had jaundice due to blood type incompatibility after birth, so wanted to avoid a repeat of that too.)
