I read this a long time ago in Jessica Seinfeld's recipe book...and it works!
While you're preparing dinner, put dips with cut up veggies out on the table - if your kids aren't good veggie eaters at dinnertime, they'll at least get some veggies while they think they are "snacking". Hehheh!
The dips my kids like include:
Easy Guac dip
Pick up a package of pre-made guacamole (I use "Wholly Guacamole" found in the produce section of the grocery store, near the pre-cut carrots & celery) and add a tbsp of sour cream and a few squirts of lemon. Cool & tart - we dip baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, pretzel sticks and tortilla chips in it (just veggies before dinner, of course).
Sour Cream/Ranch dip
Add a package of dry Ranch dressing mix to a small bowlful of sour cream. My FAVORITE thing to dip in this dip is Doritos, but of course, I wouldn't put that out on the table before dinner ;) . This is super yummy with cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, celery, any vegetable!
Oh - Also Rachel Ray's "Chickpea dip with lemon" (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/lemon-garlic-chick-pea-dip-with-veggies-and-chips-recipe/index.html) (or something like that) - I make that A LOT and we all love it.
