Well, this movie gets a thumbs up from me - but only because the original BOOK would have saved me loads of grief, had it been out around 20 years ago.
The movie was *just okay* at best.
The best part about it was that I went and saw it with my best friend at a really fun movie theater ( "The Movie Tavern" ) - only, unlike my Twilight experience, this time it didn't include a glass of wine beforehand since it was lunchtime...
The worst part about the movie is that it really exaggerated some of the most irky traits of men and women. It made a general statement that women are WAY overanalytical (okay, okay, we *can* be...) and WAY obsessive (okay, sometimes), and the men seemed WAY oversimplistic (which...okay...I won't go there...) and pretty consistently resolute.
The acting was forgettable, if not annoying. Hm, I'd say Drew Barrymore was least annoying out of everyone - and that says a lot because her lisp typically grates on my nerves like fingernails down a chalkboard. But like I mentioned, I was there with my best buddy Carolyn, so the company was fun - we had fun anyway. :) Don't dare bring your significant other - definitely a chickflick kind of film. If you do dare to bring your boyfriend or hubby, he'll probably be busy trying not to gawk at Scarlett Johanson's boobs the whole time and then afterward, wanting to stab his brain with the nearest sharp utensil if you attempt to converse about some of the points the movie makes about male vs. female psyches.
I guess more leniency with my rating could've been achieved with a couple glasses of wine, had we hit the later showing...
I'll have to remember that for next time!
