Here's a fun activity we thought up, just on the spur of the moment this morning...We happened to have some bean bags (bought with a selection of musical instruments like FOREVER ago - I think from Oriental Trading Company - but they can easily be found at teacher's supply stores as well, if they're no longer at Oriental Trading). Ronnie and Charlie have been tossing them into laundry baskets from across the room, but today we just happened to notice a roll of painter's tape sitting on a nearby table...so I made some shapes on the floor with it and we tossed away! It was fun, and a good toddler/preschool shape-lesson as well.

Painter's tape comes in all kinds of colors - at art supply stores (Michael's, Hobby Lobby), and even at Walmart - and won't stick like glue to your floor like regular masking tape, yet is still durable enough to hold up to a roomfull of preKindergartner's. Teacher's stores and art stores have the best color selections...we just have blue at the house today. But, you can make seasonal shapes (I used to do that on the floor in my preschool class for "circle time"), roads for little Matchbox cars to drive on, "starting and finish lines" for races, you could make shapes and play a "musical chairs"-like game using the concept of shapes - just about whatever you and your toddler/preschooler can dream up...Quick, cheap and easy fun...I like it! :D
