Are there any other dads out on this site? I am a dad to two kids conceived via DI.

I usually find plenty of moms (married, SMCs, lesbian) but so far no dads from heterosexual couple? Can any of the spouses explain why the husbands don't come onto these sites? Looking to see if my concerns match theirs.

Thanks, DI_Dad

I am a donor and I have wondered the same thing. The dads just leave it up to the wife to communicate with me and organize everything. I can only speculate that it is hard to deal with, like getting a shot -- you turn away and and wait for the needle to go away.

I just created a Yahoo group for DI dads:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/di_dads/

"This group is for dads whose children were conceived by donor insemination. It is not intended for the donors, but rather for the men who are actually raising or have raised children conceived by DI."

There's nothing there yet, but you've got to start somewhere...

I'm actually an ex-donor rather than a DI dad myself, but I'd be happy to transfer the group to a DI dad, as long as they moderate it to keep it spam-free.

regards, ML

 Welcome gentlemen!! Nice to have you here -- feel free to chat about anything :)

I think the women are more likely to use these bulleten boards etc -- so that's why you find lots of moms and not so many dads on line :)

I have also noticed that many times there is no dad. I've had at least two "nice" women say they are married when they are not. So I'm the dad, which is scary when they decide they want child support. No contract is going to get me out of that! Donors to married couples need to make sure the dad also signs and notorizes the contract. Donors to single women -- I hear you get a great tax write off when you pay child support. :-)

families_areforever -- I'm not so sure that is true -- what kind of donor arrangement do you have? What kind of contract? I've never heard of a donor having to pay support if the relationship was strictly as a donor... especially if it goes through a clinic or cyrobank...
