Hello, I am new to this site. I am 17 weeks pregnant with my first child. I have always had some bouts of insomnia here and there over the course of my life, but since I became pregnant, I will just lay awake the entire night even if I am not consiously thinking of anything or feeling stressed. It happens a couple nights every week and then the next day I'm miserable at work. I think I'm strange in this because it's not because I'm uncomfortable yet. Any ideas - any one else have trouble sleeping just because it's all a bit overwhelming? Thanks!

Oh no! I'm sorry you are not sleeping well :( I remember a few somewhat sleepless nights when I was pregnant but luckily I didn't have alot of them. Sometimes just getting up for a few minutes and then going back to bed can help.
Hopefully someone will hae some good tips for you!
 Welcome to maternitycorner.com by the way!

you could try some lavendar oil on your pillow and see if that helps you relax enough to put you to sleep. Otherwise maybe some camamille (sp) tea before bed would help.
Welcome!

It's the second trimester energy boost!
Not sure what it could be really, but wanted to say Welcome! :)
Where are you in Missouri? We are at Fort Leonard Wood

Thanks for your responses. My husband went out and bought me some lavendar oil yesterday! I slept better...hopefully it will last this time.
I am in Cape Girardeau MO. We have only been here for 2 years. I lived in Colorado my whole life before this. Missing my family there may also have something to do with my sleeplessness.
Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome!

Are you still sleeping a bit better? Glad the lavendar helped you some!

Yes, I have been sleeping much better lately. I made the decision to give my notice at work and, even though I will be working through November, I think I feel better seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and knowing that I will have the time to take care of myself and focus on the pregnancy. Thanks!

For anyone who is pregnant and can't sleep, I have read that it's safe to take Tylenol PM when pregnant.
